Abstract: Seven fossil woods comparable with the woods of Anisoptera oblonga and Dipterocarpus obtusifolius of Dipterocarpaceae, Aglaia edulis of Meliaceae, Acrocarpus fraxinifolius, Ormosia robusta, Koompassia malaccensis and Adenanthera pavonina of Fabaceae are described from the Lower Siwaliks of Kalagarh, Uttar Pradesh and Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. Occurrence of these taxa is indicative of a warm and humid climate around Kalagarh and Nalagarh during the Lower Siwalik period.
