Abstract: | The anatomical study or three gymnosperm fossil woods from the Upper Triassic La Coipa, La Ternera and Las Breas formations is presented. Prototaxoxylon intertappeum is a taxacean wood from India characterized
by its tertiary thickenings on their secondary tracheids; Protochamaecyparixylon klitzchii is a cupressaceous wood also present in the Nandanga Formation of South Africa while Protophyllocladoxylon
cortaderitaensis is a Protopinaceae member which was already described from the Upper Triassic of Argentina. The present text is the first description of Triassic woods from Chile. |
