Abstract: The study deals with the palynological dating and correlation of the sediments of Bore–hole No. CHB–5, Chalburdi area, Chandrapur District, Wardha Valley Coalfield, Maharashtra. Based upon the palynological studies, two distinct palynoassemblages have been identified; the first one at 57.00 m depth contains the dominance of an enveloping monosaccate genus Densipollenites along with striate bisaccate Striatopodocarpites and Faunipollenites. The stratigraphically significant palynotaxa include Crescentipollenites, Corisaccites, Klausipollenites, Alisporites, etc. The second palynoassemblage recorded at 51.00 m depth is characterised by the dominance of Faunipollenites followed by Densipollenites, Striatopodocarpites, Arcuatipollenites, Striatites, Microbaculispora, Microfoveolatispora and Scheuringipollenites. The recovered palynotaxa suggest that the sediments belong to the Late Permian Period.
