Abstract: Malvaceous fossil fruit belonging to the genus Hibiscus esculentus L. is reported from the Deccan Intertrappean exposures of Mohgaonkalan, Chhindwara District, Madhya Pradesh, India. The fruit is characterized by pentalocular, pentangular, pentaribbed dicot five seeded capsule with loculicidal dehiscence.
