Abstract: The paper deals with two new species of fossil dicot woods collected from the Tertiary beds of South Arcot district, Madras. In all anatomical details these woods resemble the modern genus Calophyllum L. of the family Guttiferae. Hence they have been assigned to a new fossil genus Calophylloxylon and described as two new species, C. indicum and C. cuddalorense.
