Abstract: The affinities of Sapindoxylon indicum, described by Navale (1956) from the Cuddalore Series near Pondicherry, have been revised. In all the anatomical features it shows closest resemblance with the woods of Duabanga of the family Sonneratiaceae but not to those of Sapindaceae. Hence, it is transferred to the genus Duabangoxylon Prakash & Awasthi (1971) and renamed as Duabangoxylon indicum (Navale) comb. nov.
