Abstract: A new species of Glossopteris, G. ornatus sp. nov., has been described from the Barakar Formation of the Raniganj Coalfield, West Bengal. The specimen shows ten leaves arranged in two close apparent whorls made up of closely arranged spiral leaves. All the leaves are morphologically similar and possess the same type of epidermal structures.
