Abstract: The potential of the Toona sp. trees, Meliaceae native in Asia and Australia continents, for dendrochronological studies is described, including its silviculture, ecology and wood anatomy. Emphasis is given to the presence of distinct annual growth rings sensitive to climatic variations and detectable by wood cross section analysis and X-ray densitometry technique.
